Brainerd Hills Baptist Church is a unique organization; dedicated to bring glory to God through the ministries of worship, evangelism, education, fellowship and outreach.
Situated today on a rolling hillside, which was once part of the Vance Farm, the Church had its beginnings as a mission of Highland Park Baptist Church in 1946. It was then located at the corner of Central Drive and East Brainerd Road. The mission continued until 1951, when it was constituted a Southern Baptist congregation.
Former pastors include Dr. John C. Herman (Interim Pastor until 1947), C. W. Howard (1947, 1950-53), Frank Witt (1948-49), L. L. Riddle (1954-56), Robert Liner (1957-60), Marshall Vaughn (1961-76), and Ron McCary (1977-84). Dr. Richard Mason has served since 1985 to the present time.
In 1965, A. J. Dewitt donated the property that our Church now occupies. A year after receiving the donation, the congregation began meeting in an interim auditorium that has since been renovated and now serves as an office suite and educational space. The Worship Center and additional facilities were completed and dedicated in November 1972.
A renovation of this Worship Center occurred in 1990. In addition to these facilities, an Activities Center was completed in 1993. A new Children’s Building was added in 1999, and two adjacent houses were purchased.
As the congregation continued to increase and expand into the 2000's, a new three level Educational Complex was completed in July of 2009 to provide additional meeting rooms for the increasing number of individuals and families making Brainerd Hills their church home, as well as provide space for future growth of the church.
Under the leadership of Dr. Richard Mason, the Church currently has a ministerial staff, which includes a Senior Associate Pastor, Minister of Education, Minister of Music, Minister of Students, Minister of Preschool and Children and a complete administrative staff.
Into the 21st century and beyond, Brainerd Hills Baptist Church seeks to be an evangelistic church where "relevant faith meets real life" - a place where its members worship the Lord together and share the "Good News" of Jesus Christ throughout the East Brainerd community, Chattanooga and North Georgia areas. We face the future with excited hearts for faith in a provisional God.
